The future belongs to renewable energies - and wind power plays a decisive role in this. But wind power is far from being limited to large, rural mega- and gigawatt plants. Wind power also offers enormous potential for decentralized energy supply.

MOWEA has therefore developed the world's first modular decentralized wind turbine. Instead of a large conventional wind turbine, we use a standardized micro wind turbine, which can be flexibly extended in a wind system according to the modular principle, depending on how much energy is needed. Currently our clients come from the fields of telecommunications, infrastructure and real estate.

We are looking for a Director of Engineering (m/f/d) who will be part of our MOWEA-Team as soon as possible

YOUR TASKS

You will be responsible for the following activities:

• Lead the Research & Development department, focusing on mechanical design, electrical engineering, and control software
• Oversee the product roadmap and development process from prototype to production readiness, ensuring a smooth handover to series production
• Ensure quality assurance, including defining system and reliability tests for the equipment
• Supervise measurements, functional tests, and provide support during the commissioning of wind energy systems
• Continuously improve and update the control software to enhance performance
• Implement a design-to-cost approach in the development process
• Ensure compliance with relevant European standards and directives, such as MRL 2006/42/EC, VDE, VDMA, DIN/ISO, and others
• Collaborate closely with the Operations and Supply Chain Management departments
• Establish an innovation workshop to secure and maintain a competitive position in the market

That distinguishes you

• Completed technical studies and at least 20 years of professional experience in the development and design of complex mechatronic machines or systems
• Exhibit proficiency in handling electronic data processing (EDP) devices and systems, especially networks, bus systems, control and testing software
• Demonstrate fluency in both written and spoken English and German languages
• Show proficiency in using current IT applications
• Have a comprehensive understanding of systems in the domains of mechatronics, electronics and control and measurement technology
• Possess leadership experience of interdisciplinary teams in the field of research and development
• Having experience in the development and market introduction of series products of automated systems is also a great advantage
• Demonstrate a confident understanding of the relevant standards and legal regulations necessary for CE certification
• Experience in working in an agile, international environment is desirable
• Ideally, you already have knowledge of the renewable energy market (Construction and operation of power generation plants)
• Exibit a high degree of self-motivation, commitment, assertiveness, absolute reliability as well as strong communication skills, the ability to react quickly and a high sense of quality and responsibility round off your profile
