The first modular wind turbine sees the light of day.
Two specialist areas of the Technical University of Berlin and the company Brose developed the first prototype (24 interconnected individual turbines) and tested it successfully at the Kaiser Wilhelm Koog on the test site of Germanischer Lloyds.
The “proof of concept” of a modular wind turbine was successfully achieved within the framework of an IBB-PROFIT cooperation project and confirmed by a certified performance measurement (GL).

Till Naumann is doing his final examinations in the context of his doctorate at the Technical University of Berlin and receives a “magna cum laude” for his dissertation entitled: “Contribution to the calculation of wind energy motors with regard to the glide ratio” in the field of Fluid Systems Dynamics.
The smallest wind turbine developed by MOWEA has a nominal output of 50W and is complementary to small photovoltaic systems; so-called solar home systems (SHS), which among others successfully used in developing countries for initial electrification.
MOWEA is testing several development stages of the single turbine, which is the core unit of the modular system. Standardized, efficient and simple in construction are the main requirements.
MOWEA wins the main prize as “overall winner” of the Elektor Verlag Fast Forward Award at the electronica fair in Munich: 75,000 € marketing budget and access to other sponsors.
