Use cases

Use cases of MOWEA small wind turbines

Rooftop

Buildings account for approximately 40% of the worldwide annual energy consumption. The guidelines regarding the energy efficiency are becoming stricter and a trend becoming a self-sufficient house is clearly recognizable. To achieve the self-sufficient house goal, there is a need of shifting the use of centralized fossil fuel energy sources to distributed renewable energy. Wind and Solar energy are the two most convenient sources of renewable energy that everybody can have on their rooftop.

The MOWEA modular system is the suitable option for the roof top installation. Numbers of turbines can be installed as a system which can be customized according to the power output requirement of the customer. Since modularity is our unique selling proposition, customers are always having the possibility to add extra capacity at later stage. The benefits for our customers are,

  1. Investment & Amortization
Since MOWEAs turbines are very efficient and simple in design, it means more production with low capital investment which makes our complete system lucrative and thus required less amortization period.
  2. Combining with PV
Adding wind turbine into the existing PV system enhances the reliability of the electricity production. It is easy and cost effective to integrate.
  3. CO2 gas saving
Non-fuel based and decentralized electricity production helps the customer to contribute to >CO2 gas saving. For instance, an 8 kW MOWEA rooftop system can save approximately 3,700 kg/a (grid electricity) and 7,500 kg/a (diesel generator) of >CO2 gas emission respectively.
  4. Corporate & Social Image
Private households and corporate companies can set a good example with the wind system, since it demonstrates environmental consciousness and enhances the real estate value.

Telco On-Grid & Off-Grid

Telco On-Grid:
Telecommunications is a very fast-growing international industry. The radio masts needed for mobile telephones have an energy requirement of up to 80 kWh per day, depending on the technological equipment. Many of these radio masts are in countries in which there is no nationwide power grid or where power failures occur daily. In Germany alone, there are around 16,000 free-standing telecommunications masts.

The MOWEA system can be designed as per the specific requirement and can be easily integrated into the telecom tower according to the technology needs. The system is beneficial for the customer to reduce their operating cost as well as become self-reliance and helps to create their corporate image as environmental responsible. For instance, a 3.2 kW MOWEA system can save up to 2,500 kg/a (grid electricity) of CO2 gas emission.

Telco Off-Grid:

By 2020, approximately 1.2 million off-grid/bad-grid telecommunications masts worldwide (not connected to the power grid/frequent power failures) will be operating with a cumulative yearly growth rate of 3.1% (2014-2020). Due to the unreliable or unavailability of the grid, the energy demand is fulfilled by the diesel generator which is expensive to operate and emits harmful CO2 gas. To overcome this condition, MOWEA provides an alternative solution which is economical and environment friendly. For telecom towers, a MOWEA wind turbine is the most convenient technology to incorporate, additionally a Wind + PV hybrid system can also be considered.

The MOWEA modular system is the feasible solution for the telecom off-grid power requirement. Existing towers are the readily available opportunities for the MOWEA turbine, whereas for upcoming telecom towers, system can be incorporated in the design phase itself. MOWEA systems are simple and easy to integrate, hence requires less time to install, high efficiency provides more electricity production therefore it increases self-reliance and the fuel free operation saves considerable amount of CO2 gas emission. For instance, a 3.2kW MOWEA system can save up to 4,900 kg/a (diesel generator) of CO2 gas emission.

Rural Area

Around the world there are still more than 1 billion people who lack access to electricity. Electricity is the basic need for people in order to be healthy, educated and financially independent. Most of the rural households in developing countries are still dependent on diesel and kerosene for their lighting purposes which are expensive and emit harmful gases.

MOWEA provides clean, transformative energy to households that suffer from expensive, unreliable grids or have no access at all. The MOWEA modular system is the suitable option for off grid rural application. The System can be installed upon single- or multiple-family houses and since the systems is modular, further capacity can be added at later stage to meet the customers’ unique energy needs. MOWEA’s affordable system helps peoples to become financial independent as well as to improve their social wellbeing, increase the light hours for the education of children and eliminates the harmful gas inhalation. For instance, a 0.8 kW MOWEA system can help to reduce up to 653 kg/a (diesel generator) of CO2 gas emission.
